We used to think a home was furniture plus walls, full stop. Then we got older and started noticing the jug on somebody's counter, the mismatched mugs that had clearly been chosen one at a time, over years, for reasons nobody could fully explain — and we understood we'd had it backwards. The furniture is just scaffolding. This is the part that actually holds a life.

So: vases for flowers you'll forget to change the water on. Jars for the things that don't have a proper place yet. Barware for the nights that turn into other nights. Pillows, dried flowers, tableware, the mug you'll fight your family over. None of it is essential, exactly. All of it is how a house stops being a building and starts being yours.
